Online Continuing Education Master's Program of Library and Information Studies

圖書資訊學數位學習碩士在職專班

Graduate Institute of Library & Information Studies, NTNU

Introduction

  • Objectives
  • The focus of this program includes library and information management, user research, library and information systems and technology, operation and management of knowledge-based services and institutions, digital content management, operation and management of learning resource centers, library and information education and research, as well as reading promotion and education. Our objectives are to “cultivate knowledge-based service managers and researchers for corporations and institutions, and conduct research on the preservation, organization, enhancement, dissemination, and management of knowledge in order to add value to knowledge-user experience in a knowledge-based economic society”
  • About Us
  • In 1955, NTNU established the Library & Information Division under the Department of Adult & Continuing Education—the first library and information-related school department in Taiwan. The Graduate Institute of Library & Information Studies (GLIS) was established independently under NTNU’s College of Education in 2002, as to cultivate first-rate library and information specialists needed in a knowledge-based economy and society; applications are open to anyone pursuing a master’s degree.
  • To provide in-service library and information professionals with a platform for continuing education, GLIS took over responsibility for operating the Department of Adult & Continuing Education’s In-Service Master’s Program of Library and Information Studies (weekend program) and In-Service Master’s Program of School Library Administration (summer program) in 2005 to cultivate library and information specialists that have expertise in information technology.
  • The online in-service program offered by GLIS has obtained the Ministry of Education’s 2018 Stage 1 Online In-Service Master’s Program certification. We ceased admissions for our existing In-Service Master’s Program of Library and Information Studies in 2019 and transition to online in-service master’s program. We provide in-service librarians, primary/middle/secondary school teachers, and library and information specialists with online programs that allow them to expand their horizons and career plans in various directions, study at their own pace, and improve their professional knowledge and skills.

Program Features

  • Strengthen library and information services and encourage lifelong learning
  • Cultivate tech-savvy library and information specialists for the coming era of knowledge-based economies
  • Provide in-service library and information specialists and teacher librarians with ways to further their education
  • Practice open learning and self-directed learning
